IU 66 WI 68

I have more important shit to do than update this dumbass blog.

So, hoosier fans, what did you think of the game?

What do you think of the NCAA allegations?

What do you think should happen to Sampson?

I'll get this started. Most heart-breaking game of the year. A game IU definitely needed for so many reasons. I thought they played well. The defense was decent at times. As good as Gordon's stat line may look from a points perspective, I thought he cost them the game down the stretch. He forced too many shots at the end. This is not high school anymore, Eric. There are guys out there just as big and stong as you. Sampson should have made them get the ball to DJ more. I felt better every possession DJ touched the ball.

At the end of the day, IU has bigger problems than this one game. They are faced with sanctions, they have not beaten a ranked team and they now will need to win out to have a shot at a BT title.

I do not think IU has a shot at a national championship this year. I hope IU investigates the allegations quickly and fires Sampson if he is truly guilty. I do not want this to linger any longer than it has to.

OMG. What the hell is happening to IU Basketball? From Knight to Davis to Sampson.... What next? I'm proud of our guys even if they didn't win tonight. They played as well as can be expected with the NCAA cloud hanging over their heads. I was disappointed with Greenspan's press conference. He's made an art of talking a long time but saying very little. I'd like to see Sampson gone, Greenspan gone, and a new, clean house with a brand spankin' new coach that takes us to the title. All this from Viki, as Greg thinks my post too dramatic. At the end of it all: GO HOOSIERS!

It didn't take long for the rumor mill to get up and running. A blog at www.thebiglead.com is saying that Sampson will be fired Friday (http://thebiglead.com/?p=4613).

I had never heard of this site before today so I don't give it any credibility, but I do find it interesting that this stuff is already out there. How the hell am I supposed to work when the rumors are already running wild!?!

I also find it interesting that both ESPN and cbssportsline brought up Tony Bennett's name as IU's next coach (should Sampson get fired). Of course, we all know Dick Bennett from his coaching days at Wisconsin and Tony's sister Kathi Bennett was actually IU's women's coach from 2000-2005. Tony Bennet won National Coach of the Year last year in his 1st year as Head Coach and has Washington State in the Top 25 again this year.

Anyway, defintely getting way ahead of ourselves, but just thought I would point out some of the things I have seen tonight on the various websites.

Also, I still can't talk about tonight's game.

A nightmare of a day for Hoosier basketball.

This is awful! I don't know what's worse: Living in Wisconsin after a loss to them or being married to a Purdue guy during IU's nasty demise.

I really think IU should cut their losses sooner rather later and move on. This kind of thing is awful for the school and the program. If Sampson were to remain, every outsider would view IU as a tainted program not a storied program. I hate that our school is associated with any of this. Is there any possible quick end to this?

And, for God's sake can someone please beat PURDUE????? Throw me a bone here people!

On top of it all, sounds like Sampson injected Roger Clemens, Clemen's wife, Barry Bonds, and Sylvestor Stallone with HGH on multiple occassions...doesn't look good for him.

Rough day for IU basketball...but it will all work out. On the bright side, we aren't talking "Blue Chips" here...that's down in Memphis.

I was crushed by that ending. Absolutley crushed. Shana walked straight up to bed with no words. I immediatly lost my abilty to munch of that box of Triscuits that I was devouring during the game. All of my remaining saliva turned to dust before I curled up into the fetal position on the couch for several hours. I ended up watching an episode of COPS to calm my nerves.

I thought Sampson looked guilty and distracted. His eyes gave him away. He screwed up his dream job and I don't know why he would do that. Its not like you have to beg recruits to play at Indiana.

I thought we played pretty well. The jump ball was bull crap. He clearly traveled?? There was also a blatent shove from Butch to DJ that somehow wasn't called. In a tight game, the calls do make a difference. Traveling is traveling for crying out loud. The guy moved both feet and slid on the floor without dribbling? WTF!!

I actually feel ill over this. Jeff said it best that DJ and the team are having a season that we can really be proud of. We haven't had a guy dominate like DJ in years. If we could just get 1 more guy besides DJ and Gordon to get double figures, this would not be a contest.

I would like them to fire Sampson. Ray McCallum and Dakich could run the show.

This guy has really, really lost the trust of the Alumni, Fans, and his employer. He was entrusted with something special and didn't take care of it.

I love watching DJ and his crew. They deserve better than this. I should hope Digger or Vitale can provide some cover for the players in the media.
